Event Flyer - Original Slow Cooker - May 18, 2019 - 2 pm - at NSMLV
Join us with speaker, Spencer Lodge, an archaeologist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service at the Desert National Wildlife Refuge (DNWR).

He will talk about the Native American groups throughout the Mojave Desert who baked a variety of plants such as agave, yuccas, and green pinyon cones in large communal earth ovens. Also known as roasting pits, examples can be found locally in the Desert National Wildlife Refuge.

Find out more about age old baking!
