A third-generation Nevada native, Sally Denton is an award-winning investigative journalist, author, and historian. Throughout her historical works, she turns a reporter’s eye toward often overlooked details about the events and people that have shaped our world.

Expanding on the current Nevada State Museum exhibit Finding Fremont, Denton’s book Passion and Principle offers a more personal account of the life and adventures of controversial 19th century explorer and politician john C. Fremont. In her vivid, accessible style, Denton presents “the Pathfinder” as one half of America’s first power couple, along with his wife, Jessie Benton Fremont. Far ahead of her time, feminist, abolitionist and writer, Jessie Fremont used her intelligence, political skills and creative talents to propel her husband’s military and political career into the annals of American history.

In recognition of Women’s History Month in March, Denton will share insights, take questions, and autograph copies of her book, available for sale at the Museum Store. Funds raised during the event support Nevada State Museum, Las Vegas programs and activities.
