WRITING GROUPS

Ash Canyon Poets

Meets every Friday night from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Evergreen Mountain View Health Center, 201 Koontz Lane, Carson City, Nevada 89701. You may bring a poem for critique with about 12 copies to pass around to the group OR just come to listen and offer your thoughts on the poems brought for critique. If you have never written poetry, but have an interest to start, you are welcome to come listen to the group! Many Ash Canyon Poets members are published poets and will share the resources available in our local community as well as publications focused on helping new poets.

Henderson Writers Group

Established in 2001, HWG started with eight members. We now number between seventy-five and one hundred, depending on the time of year. Our goal is to help aspiring writers who desire to see their works published.  In 2003, the group hosted the first of our annual writers’ conferences bringing top agents and publishers from across the country to the Vegas valley. As for the future of the group, we hope to continue critiquing each other—to help any writer who wants to improve their craft and achieve their goals. HWG also holds a yearly student writer’s contest to inspire young writers.
